I was due to give a presentation to the West Coast Bird Club on Sunday, so Margaret and I decided to head up on Saturday already to do some birding and photography in the area basing ourselves at the Dolphin Guesthouse in Brittania Bay on Saturday night. First stop was an oyster farm just north of Paternoster where we spent quite a bit of time working through the waders there, but could not turn up anything particularly exciting. Then we took a slow drive through the farmlands towards Stompneusbaai. We were also atlassing the various pentads that we were working through, so in some small way, actually doing something useful. Most of the usual birds were seen along this route and we also managed to find a single Lark-like Bunting, a bird that seems to be just about everywhere on the west coast at the moment. Finally arriving in Brittania Bay, we booked in and spent the late afternoon birding the coastal area again only picking up the regular species.

Sunday was pretty much taken up with activities for the bird club, so I didn't even get to click the shutter once although we did manage to squeeze in atlassing one pentad in gale force winds which was not terribly easy!
