Since we have been fairly busy recently and have not had too much time to get out into the field, Margaret and I decided to head off to Intaka Island Wetland Reserve to do a bit of birding, photography and also fill in an atlas card since we hadn't done one of those for a while either. There has been quite a lot of construction in the area recently (and it is still not complete), but most of the usual suspects were still around and showing reasonably well. Perhaps the biggest surprise (or disappointment) was the number of Mallards (and hybrid variations of these!) in the area. The birding highlight was undoubtedly a Little Bittern that sat out in the sun for a while on some reeds. Unfortunately, it was a little too far to get decent photos of it, but it was still good to see.
